McAfee Email Protection – End of Service Announcement

McAfee Email Protection – End of Service Announcement

Intel Security will discontinue McAfee Email Protection on January 11, 2017.

Provident recently learned that that Intel is phasing out McAfee Email Protection, a service protecting many of our Exchange email accounts. We are already working to identify a new security solution, and will soon announce a replacement system. The new security software will likely match or exceed the protection we received from McAfee, and we expect it will integrate seamlessly with our Hosted Exchange platform. The important thing for our clients to know is that no action is needed on your part. We’ve put together the following information, anticipating some of your questions and concerns.

Why is McAfee Email Protection going out of service?

Intel Security, owner of McAfee, is shifting focus within its product line and has decided to discontinue McAfee as part of a larger series of cuts. Intel has committed to maintaining current support and service levels through the end of next year, though Provident will announce and begin implementing our new security solution well in advance.

As a McAfee user, what should I know?

McAfee security will remain live and reliable until early 2017. Long before then, Provident will announce a new security solution that will likely match or exceed the protection we received from McAfee. Intel Security/McAfee announced an End of Sale date of January 11th 2016, meaning that no new McAfee accounts can be provisioned after that date. However, new users to existing accounts will not be impacted by this change. The important thing to know is that no action is necessary on your part; Provident is working hard to make sure all of our clients are protected by high performance security software.

Will my bills go up in the future? Will I lose features and functionality?

The services Provident is investigating are equivalent in cost to the McAfee Email Protection Suite. We’re confident that the new service will match or expand upon the features and functionality our clients are accustomed to. Furthermore, we expect a new solution to integrate seamlessly with our Hosted Exchange platform, making for an easy transition with minimal disruption to users.
